I'm currently with Wachovia, and the online banking along with slow money transfers is really getting to me. Their interest rate is not much to brag about either. I'm looking hard at opening up at ING Direct and maybe HSBC, but I hear a lot of horror stories online about most banks (citibank, wells fargo, wash. mutual, and BOA). What do you guys recommend in terms of ease of deposits/withdrawals @ ATMS and transferring money between accounts? Thanks.

do a search on ing direct..there are a few of us using that-it's simple and good. you obviously need to keep a land based bank for emergencies, and rates on every type of market fund/investment have been going down and will continue to with fed rate cuts.

Thanks for the response. Most likely, I will be setting up online savings with ING, but I am having trouble setting up the checking account there because I am failing a test, despite a great credit history.

Checking-wise, I'm debating between emigrant, hsbc, or just maintaining the wachovia account.

I had an overdraft fee a year ago, I wonder if that is preventing me from setting up an ING checking account.

I have used ING for about a year now and they are excellent...easy transfer and unlimited...i also used them for a mortage and it was the easiest mortage my real estate attorny ever said he had seen.....Very reputable and interest rates are competetive and even when the fed lowers rates drastuclally they keep them competetive....no strings is the best way to put it
